Building a pc, need some opinions (first build)
Here are the parts i have chosen so far, give me your opinions or recommendations on these or other parts;
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 11-119-225
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130809
Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115229
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813128533
Hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822148840
Optical drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6827135204
Cheap ram lol: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820233349 (x4)
Thats what i have picked out, not sure what i would need for a power supply, also the sound and network cards are built in on the motherboard. Just give me opinions on what you think or recommendations on what i should change or get, i will probably also end up getting another graphics card and run 2 of them.

Re: Building a pc, need some opinions (first build)
A few questions before we get started.
What are you using this for, do you think you'll ever use it for rendering large videos, intense Photoshop, compiling massive amounts of code or anything?
What is the budget your working with, how much are you willing to spend before taxes and OS? (Max budget minus about $200-300)
Your CPU and motherboard, why specifically are you needing a $350 motherboard (or did you just find the one that looked the nicest)?
Also why are you going for the I7-3820, over the I7-3770k? The 3770k is what people typically go for, it uses a more popular socket (1155) and performs better than the 3820, for about $30 more. (Though unless you want the I7 for something specific, I'd recommend going for the I5 3570k)
The case is a bit pricey but w/e, why do you need 16 gigabytes of RAM (what are you planning to do that needs it?)
TL:DR

I will be using it for gaming, video editing/rendering, and programming once i start my classes in the summer, i have about $1300 probably before taxes, i was going for the i7 because i have an i5 in my laptop currently and i figured it would be an upgrade, though i didn't really put much time in looking at the difference of the 2, i have 8 gigs of ram in my laptop and i figured it would be another upgrade, just to have something better than what i got, and for the motherboard, a friend of mine has the motherboard and recommended it to me, i found the motherboard and the i7 in combo deal on new egg, seemed like a good deal haha. I could probably put out $1500 or so if needed, i'm just trying to build the best i can for my budget lolsoulharvester wrote:A few questions before we get started.

Yeah give me a bit, having someone else double check my picks before posting, but a build is on the way.

I just bought an HIS iCooler Series Radeon 7770 GHz edition on sale. It's WAY better price to performance ratio than your current card. It's $109.99 plus you get Far Cry 3 for free. Also you get a $10 rebate card.

You shouldn't compare the price ratio of a card with less than half of the computing power of the previous one.
The 660 Ti is actually a solid card.

Oh, for some reason I thought it was a 640 or 650.soulharvester wrote:You shouldn't compare the price ratio of a card with less than half of the computing power of the previous one.

Also, I believe the the card I posted ran in Xfire would beat the 660Ti, though I'm not positive due to my lack of familarity with nVidia's cards.
