Unless you plan to overclock, save like $30 and don't get the K processors. There's no performance difference.

I would assume the reason he spent an additional like $100 on the Z87 chipset motherboard, Noctua cooler, and K version CPU combo with overclocking compatibility was so that he could overclock it.

Could be, or he may just want a silent machine. I got a Define R4 with a 4670 and a noctua. My pc is dead silent.
