uugh, new laptop

Post by Jasmine »

Okey.
Since I'm most likely not gonna be able to put my custom pc up at my moms house I might aswell buy a new laptop.
But naturally I want it to work for gaming.
What should I look for?
Minimum requirements?
The games I play mostly is; TF2, L4D2, minecraft, Outlast, and so on.
I dont play full on prestandagames like bf3 or similar.
Ideas?

Hmm

1TB Of Hard drive space
8GB of ram will be fine.
A GTX 780m (Laptop series)
Intel i7 will be your best bet, but I i5 will still work Nicely.
And these are not the minimum requirements. Just the ones I may get.

Also I recommend IBUYPOWER if you are going to get it custom made.

Around 1100 dollars to 1500 dollars.
The cheaper the better naturally.

Typically when it comes to laptops, I5s are dual core and I7s are quad core, there are exceptions, but it's something to watch out for.

Yep. i3s and i5s are dual cores with hyperthreading. i7s that are not low voltage or ultra low voltage(the ones that end in U) are quad core(and multithreaded, I believe). The low voltage i7s are dual cores with hyperthreading as well.

At a 1.1k-1.5k price point, there are some decent options. The Lenovo Y50 is probably the most powerful computer you can get, as long as your general environment temperature isn't too hot(as the cooling is good-mediocre). However, it's got a pretty lacking screen. I would also recommend the Asus N550JK. It's got a weaker GPU than the Y50, but has a beautiful display. For the games you're playing, the specs of the Asus N550JK (with the GT 850m w/ 2GB DDR3, i7-4700HQ) should be plenty.

I don't know any stores in Sweden, but there's a link to the laptop here in the US.

SATA is a little better, but without SATA you're fine for sure...
If i see this, go for option 2 !!! I will take that allready just for the matt screen itself, hate reflecting screens; irritates me by just 1 beam of light :l

Second one has better specifications. Both should be hybrid sata drives. However both are low voltage i7s. This means that they are pretty much on par with any regular mobile version i3 or i5.

So both of you believe that the second one should be enough to handle tf2, minecraft and such?
