Potential Idea for VSH Single Raging

This is a pretty polarizing topic among regulars in the VSH server (no pun intended) but I know that there are pretty strong feelings about the general strength of directing Saxton Hale's rage towards a single target, especially if they are the only one affected by the rage. The general argument differs between the innate unfairness of being unable to react or counter when you're the sole target of a Hale rage to simply accepting that single rages are a part of the game for curbing experienced players to allow less experienced Hales to win. Admittedly, I occasionally I get salty myself when I get single raged but I understand that Hale is meant to be superior to any class in any aspect.

Despite the arguments, I've encountered a handful of servers that have taken to nerfing single raging by actually decreasing the duration of the rage stun if only a single person was affected by a rage. This mechanic wasn't applied if more than one person was affected by the rage and the stun duration remained the same if this was the case (though I'm not sure what the policy was with buildings). Some of these servers even had disparaging remarks about single raging when it occurred, usually in the form of "Hale used single rage! It's not very effective..." as a way of encouraging less targeting. it's an idea that might be worth discussing if people think it might be an effective way of balancing out the primary playstyle of how Hale should be utilizing rage as opposed to erasing particular players.

Regardless, does anyone have any thoughts on the matter? Freak Fortress could theoretically apply these changes as well but the gameplay surrounding that mode is unique enough that it might not need any change of that nature.

I actually have the opposite opinion when it comes to single raging vs spamming it in a large group of people. Just because personally I think it takes a lot more thought and effort to target a single person as opposed to just spamming the darn thing. I like the aspect of people being a little more strategic with it even if it does cost me my life. I never use rage myself even if it means I lose in a embarrassing fashion, but I understand why others might. For instance if a engie is camping in a OP spot like inside a freight container or in a room with a small entrance, I understand why some people would rage in that instance or if someone is using a map exploit that you cant reach yourself unless you rage them to give yourself some time to setup a good jump. Personally I think the range of Hale's range should be reduced overall so that they are encouraged to use them in a more strategic manner or as you would say, a single rage.

Don't see a point to this. A rage is designed to help a hale overcome certain situations, be it against a large or small group, be it a group of engineers or a scout. These classes are designed for high survivability.

These are all good points. I'm curious myself what kind of feedback the servers that implement these features receive about the system or the manner of complaints for that matter...

Someone with a lot of charm must have convinced them to go through all the trouble of making those changes.

I am against changing this. It helps players speed up the rounds when trying to kill a more skillful opponent. In addition, for players who are not as skilled, they may require this as a tool to help them win the round.

People are just salty when they get single-raged. there shouldn't be something about it, people should just man the fuck up tbh.
