Hey guys, I'm having trouble getting my new build up and running.
I turn it on, and it powers up, but after a few seconds, the graphics card fan stops spinning, and nothing ever shows up on the monitor. To fight this I've tried booting it up with the onboard graphics of my motherboard, but still, nothing shows up on the monitor.
My specs are i7 7700k
GTX 1070
Asrock Z270 gaming k6 fatal1ty motherboard
8gb ripjaw ram

So the PC turns on and then everything shuts down or just the GPU?

Odd af, got a friend with pretty much the exact same build except he has i5 instead of i7 as CPU and he had the exact same issue, ill ask him how he got it fixed and post back once he replies, could take a while tho the fucker is at army rightnow so dont know if he has service/time to be on his phone for other than porn.

Could be a PSU or either a GPU problem. I Can't think of anything else

So I figured it out... My dumbass kept skipping over looking at the ram but it wasn't clicked in all the way.. lol. But, new issue is that the HDD isn't getting recognized, but the motherboard-connected SSD is, mission-time round 2.

Those are weird symptoms for a RAM issue, normally the BIOS (UEFI now, but whatever) would mention an issue with installed memory. However, with your hard drive, has it been previously formatted? If it hasn't, you will need to format it to be able to utilize the space of it on your operating system.

it's a brand new hard drive

If it is a new hard drive, it has not been formatted before, in order to use it you will have to log onto the operating system of your computer to format it. Once it is formatted it should be instantly usable to store information.

I see you may have somewhat figured this out, but still, here are some ideas for future reference.

Is EVERYTHING plugged in? The 24 pin cable, the sata cables, the cable for the gpu? Basically, just make sure everything that needs to be plugged in is plugged

Did the GPU and the bracket make a click sound when you inserted it? If it didn't then it isn't fully in, which can cause video problems.

Is the RAM plugged in? ^ Also, if you ever decide to get a new computer, go with 16 GB's of RAM. That should be the standard from now on

Make sure your CPU is compatible with your motherboard

Are your input cables good? Make sure whatever cable you use to connect the GPU and monitor works well. Display port is the best option. NEVER USE VGA

Your CPU/GPU may be underclocked, causing them to have to work harder to produce video. Can fix that in the BIOS

Hard drives, cant remember the exact procedure, but make sure the hard drive partition has the OS on it
Also, sata cables could be bad
