About the Bombinomicon cosmetic

So I wear the bombinomicon on my Demoman and everytime the Hale stuns me on FF2 it explodes but I don't die. Leaving me invisible for the entire stun. Just wanted to know if it was a glitch or you guys did it on purpose?
