Mandela Effect

Post by Charizard »

Definition: The Mandela Effect is a name given to the phenomenon of the collective dismembering of specific facts or events.

Examples:
"Magic Mirror on the wall..." instead of "Mirror mirror on the wall..."
For whatever reason, people thought that Nelson Mandela died in prison in the early 80's.
"Fruit loops" instead of "Froot loops"
"Kit-Kat" instead of "KitKat"
"Berenstein Bears" instead of "Berenstain Bears"
"No, I am your father." instead of "Luke, I am your father."
"I'm a barbie girl, in THE barbie world" instead of "I'm a barbie girl, in A barbie world"
"Looney Tunes" instead of "Looney Toons"
Pikachu having the color black at the end of its tail
In Forest Gump, the famous quote says "Life is like a box of chocolate" but apparently it's "Life WAS like a box of chocolate"

and many more...

I always thought that the Queen said "Mirror mirror on the wall..." instead of "Magic mirror on the wall..." because a lot of people referenced that quote and even I remember it being "mirror mirror" when I first watched it. Same with "Luke, I am your father." I definitely remember it being the "Looney toons" not "Looney tunes" The song lyric "I'm a barbie girl, in the barbie world" was never said imo but when I listened to the song again, I heard "THE" instead of "A"

This is making me feel like my whole child hood is a lie. :<

The genie movie starring Sinbad people swear exists. Can blame Kazaam for this (already terrible).

Oscar Mayer vs Oscar Meyer.

Had more in my head, but those popped up and stayed.

I think the worst one for me was: "we are the champions" and that they in fact does not end the song with "of the world" on the records. However it was done on one live performance which led people to think that that was how the song always ended.

Or something along those lines
Much love

I have a couple.
I used to think the song "Gypsies Tramps and Thieves" was called Gypsies Tramps and Bees

I used to think in the song "Friends in Low Places" when the guy says where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away I thought he said where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my balloons away lol

I was a silly kid and I'm sure there are more songs that I sang wrong but I was too adorable for my parents to correct me (or too stubborn to acknowledge they were right).

Why would you ever accept fear when you have the power to refuse it?

I personally always saw "Berenstein". I swear it. Owned quite a bit of the books as a kid.

I also remember specifically the tip of Pikachu's tail being black. It was a black stripe going downwards on the tip of his tail.
HankHill: Might as well mention that you wear banana peels for underwear and you prefer playing Casual because it's more basic, pleb.

I was a huge fan of pokemon and Pikachu's tail did not have black at its tip.

A lot of people swear up and down that it did, though. Some theorize that it was Pikachu-Two, but that was the ears, not the tail.

I blame Pichu, personally (and the RGB model).
