What's your budget? There are plenty of different ways to go about headsets. I personally use a Steelseries headset, but with an external $7 clip-on mic because that little thing has way better quality than the headset mic. Just depends on what you want and what you have.

But batteries man. Can't forget the batteries. Wireless headsets eat them. If you're going to be using it for only computer use I would suggest wired, just due to never having to deal with batteries.
I have heard a lot of good about that Logitech headset though. I have several friends who use it and enjoy it, but like Toxic said. Soul will help.

That is what I use. Had it for about a year now and is still fine. Got it for about $60, but it is a good heatset. Haven't had any problems with it so far.

I have a wired headset and it's just a fucking pain in the ass sometimes, the cord usually clumps into a giant twisted mess :/

Don't buy Headsets, they have a normal life-span of 6 months because they're shoving twice as many wires into cords that are usually thinner than they use for normal headphones. In general they cost twice as much and are not designed to last, they're also really gimmicky and don't provide anywhere near the quality they should for the price you're paying for them.

Here are a few options I'd recommend:

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-RP-HTF6 ... B004MMEI8W

These were some of the first good headphones I got, and I've yet to wear a headphone to surpass the quality to price ratio when it comes to audio output; However, after having both of the supports holding the whole driver structure for the ear cups snap when they got dropped, requiring me to gorilla-glue the things back together, I have to warn people that their build quality is sub-par. However despite this the wiring never failed me and my brother in law still enjoys listening to music on these downstairs.

http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX700-Preci ... B0013OWPV4

These are my current recommendation for budget headphones, and while they fall slightly short of the Panasonic's in audio quality (especially before the recommended burn in time of 50-100 hours), their build quality and comfort far surpasses those of the panasonics, they are however somewhat larger than you might expect.

http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX900-High- ... B0013P3ZOE

The upgraded version of the JVC 700s, these have the same build quality, superior comfort (better ear pads), and improved audio quality. Unfortunately part of the improvement was made by making them a little more open, which improves the quality, while letting more sound leak, so if you're living close quarters with other people they'll hear what you hear more easily, and you'll hear them a tad louder, not the biggest con, but it is what it is. They're nearly twice as much, but very solid phones for the price range.

Onto the mics:

In the past I've recommended http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Se ... B00029MTMQ

They've worked fairly well for a while for most people, however a few people have since ruined or replaced theirs, not that they're exactly expensive to replace, the microphone quality was also somewhat questionable on occasion, though that could've probably been chalked up to environmental factors rather than microphone quality.

http://www.amazon.com/Samson-Mic-Portab ... B001R76D42

But I'd really, really recommend just getting one of these. They're nice as fuck, just leave them on your desk somewhere in omni directional mode and forget about everything else, really. Just plug them in and they work, and provide crystal clear audio doing it. people can hear me crystal clear when I whisper while about 3-4 feet away from this thing. On top of that it'll last you for like fucking ever as long as you don't break the cords or destroy it.

The ones he was looking at are rechargeable.

I recommend wired just because dealing with wireless issues at a desktop is fucking annoying/stupid. If wires get in the way 10 minutes of good cable management, ducktape, and paperweights can solve that.

Also the "7.1 surround sound" thing is a gimmick marketed at "gamers" who need the "ultimate experience". Adding additional drivers into a headphone does not improve quality, and will more likely detract from it.

"Surround Sound" is based on the concept that having two speakers infront of you to the left and right can't make it sound like something is behind you, they solved this issue by adding multiple channels to the audio stream based on the location they expect each speaker to be placed, and allowed you to position speakers SURROUNDING your location.

However surround sound isn't an issue with headphones due to the way our ears work. Putting additional drivers into the headphones would be like making glasses with 3-7 different lenses per eye. Our brain does the location work for where a sound comes from based on the volume and timing difference picked up from each ear.

Wear headphones and watch this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUDTlvagjJA

(I recognize that you never mentioned surround sound snow, I was more just saying this in general than directing it at you.)
